Studio Rules &
Membership terms & Conditions

All Aerial Academy members including those either hiring the studio or visiting on a casual or trial basis, are expected to abide by the Studio Rules and membership Terms and Conditions.



Behaviour

• Any member or user of the facilities provided who conducts themselves in an improper manner, or knowingly violates any Studio Rules may be refused access and have their membership terminated (refer to Terms and Conditions). Aerial Academy reserves its right to amend the Studio Rules at any time without notice.

• Use of abusive, discriminative or provocative language will not be tolerated.

• Aerial Academy reserves the right to terminate the membership of any person that is deemed (at the sole discretion of Aerial Academy) to be threatening, rude or intimidating to other members or staff.

• Any reports relating to the conduct of others, care of the facility or studio staff should be reported directly to the Aerial Academy management.
  

Appropriate Apparel

• Aerial Academy requires all clientele to wear appropriate apparel, this being a t-shirt, crop top, singlet or other top, worn with pants, leggings or shorts. Apparel must protect and cover the body appropriately. It must not have zippers or other hard or sharp edges that could damage equipment and clientele must be barefoot or in socks while using aerial equipment. Only special dance shoes pre-approved by staff are allowed to be worn while on the equipment.

• Clothing worn must not show any abusive, inappropriately explicit imagery. 

• All jewellery is to be removed before class, both for safety of the student and to protect the equipment.

• All clothing changes must be done in the changing rooms or the toilet.
  

Property Belonging to Members
& Other Users of the premises

• Aerial Academy members and other users of the premises may use the cubby holes provided on the premises for the storage of personal possessions while attending a class. All property must be removed immediately following the end of your session.

• Aerial Academy will not be responsible for any loss or damage to property belonging to members, to those undertaking a trial at the premises or to any person in or around the premises. If loss or damage does occur however, Aerial Academy will take appropriate steps to assist the affected client.

• All members and those undertaking a trial at the premises may be asked to pay reparations in full for loss or damage to equipment or property belonging to other members.

• Any misplaced or lost property once handed in, will be located in in Lost Property at the “Office - Tari”and can be collected during office hours. Aerial Academy reserves the right to dispose of the property without notice if not collected within one (1) month.

Property Belonging to Aerial Academy

• No property belonging to Aerial Academy may be taken off the premises at any time.

• All members (and those undertaking a trial) may be asked to pay reparations in full for loss or damage to equipment or property belonging to Aerial Academy.
  

Physical Safety

• All directions from Aerial Academy instructors are to be followed at all times.

• All members and those using the facilities on the premises are doing so at their own risk. 

• Aerial Academy members or other users of the premises should be aware of their own fitness and exercise limits and should not exceed those limits. Please inform your instructor of your exercise limits.

• Please notify the instructor before the session if you have sustained any injuries, illnesses or medical conditions or if you feel there are parts of the session you are unable to take part in – participation is completely voluntary. All information given to the instructor is always completely private and confidential. Please ask as many questions as possible during the session, especially if you do not completely understand any move that is demonstrated.

• Members (and those both casually visiting or undertaking a trial at Aerial Academy) are not permitted to offer any personal training assistance or exercise advice to others. Aerial Academy will not accept any responsibility for consequences or physical harm that may occur when students/members/visitors who are not Aerial Academy instructors attempt to give instructions to others on how to perform tricks or use the equipment. 

• Any concerns over equipment should be reported to an instructor immediately.

• Open Training sessions are available only to pre-approved members. These classes are unsupervised and whoever attends will not hold Aerial Academy liable in any way, for any injury that occurs during these sessions. Safe practice and common sense is required at all times including but not limited to the use of safety mats, proper warm up and careful execution of skills practiced.

• Rigging equipment must only be used by Aerial Academy instructors or members that have undergone the Aerial Academy rigging training. 

• Aerial Academy has a strict mat policy: any student practicing any kind of aerial on our premise MUST ALWAYS BE USING A MAT. Any student discovered to be doing aerial work without using a mat (outside the bounds of in-class supervision and/or prior permission from an Aerial Academy instructor) will be given a warning and if it happens repeatedly, their membership may be suspended or terminated.

• Rigging of apparatuses must not go past 7 metres in height, this height is indicated by the red tape on the rigging ropes.
  

Food & Drink

• Food is not permitted in the training area. Drinks consumed during workouts must be in a bottle with a lid.

• Members and other users of the premises must properly tidy and clean up after themselves.

• Strictly no alcohol and drugs are to be consumed or used before touching any rigging or during performing on or on any aerial equipment of any kind.

• Permission to consume any alcohol in on or around the premises is only to be undertaken with consent by one or both of the company directors, and is at their discretion.

• No smoking of any kind is permitted in, on or around the premises. 

Parking Rules

• Members and other users of the premises must abide by traffic and parking signs posted around the premises and must be courteous to other drivers.

• If you park in a reserved, restricted or no parking area, Aerial Academy reserves the right to have your car clamped or towed at your expense.
  

Injuries & Emergencies

• We take the health and safety of our members seriously. If an injury has occurred on the premises, an Incident Report Form must be filled out and filed at the time of injury. If you discover or witness an injury on the premises, please notify staff immediately after taking appropriate action to ensure the injured member's safety as well as your own.

• Please call 111 for all serious emergencies.

• If an emergency occurs which requires evacuation from the premises, please follow our evacuation plan and fire exit signs posted within the premises leading you to the nearest exit.
  

Cleaning up blood

To minimize the risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens and maintain a safe, hygienic environment for all staff, instructors, and students please follow the following steps:

• If blood or other bodily fluids are present in the studio:
  - Stop activity in the affected area immediately.
  - Prevent access to the contaminated area until cleaning and disinfection are complete.
  - Notify a staff member or instructor as soon as possible.
  - Any person providing first aid should follow the studio's first aid procedures.

• Before cleaning blood or bodily fluids, the person performing the cleanup must wear appropriate PPE, including: Disposable gloves

• Hands must be washed thoroughly before and after glove use.

  Procedure:
  - Put on disposable gloves.
  - Absorb and remove visible blood using disposable paper towels or similar
  - Place contaminated materials directly into a sealed plastic bag.
  - Clean the affected surface with detergent and water.
  - Disinfect the area using an approved disinfectant
  - Allow the surface to air dry where possible.

• If blood has contacted aerial apparatus, mats, crash pads, rigging protection, or other equipment:
  - Remove the equipment from use immediately.
  - Clean and disinfect the affected equipment and area as much as possible
  - If blood is on fabric aerial apparatuses such as ropes or silks, set the apparatus aside for proper cleaning. Notify an instructor or staff member about the contaminated equipment.
  

Use of Equipment

• Members and other users of the premises must not misuse, move or alter or tamper with any of the equipment or property on the premises.

• When training please only use one piece of equipment at a time.

• If you wish to use aerial equipment other than Hoops, Hammocks, Silks or Trapeze outside of class time (e.g Open Training) this must first be pre-approved and permission given by an Aerial Academy instructor.

• Equipment must be handled with care and respect at all times. Any intentional abuse may result in automatic termination of your membership.

• Any equipment used on your own training time is to be properly folded or suitably packed away (eg Silks and Hammocks to be daisy-chained) and returned to its proper place after use. This includes any mats.
  

Photography & Videography
within the studio

Aerial Academy is always strongly committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all its participants. All members, visitors, and staff must respect the privacy and consent of others when engaging in any kind of photography or videography within the bounds of the studio.

• Recording must only take place in class with the permission of the instructor and must in all cases be in a manner that does not distract participants or obstruct equipment, walkways, or emergency exits, or create trip hazards.

• Students should be mindful that other participants may not wish to be photographed or recorded. Where possible, recordings should focus only on the individual performing the activity and avoid capturing others without their consent ESPECIALLY if your content is to be shared publicly on social media.

• Photography or video recording of any person without their knowledge or consent may result in removal of recording privileges and, where appropriate, further action by studio management.

• Strictly NO photography or video recording is permitted in changing areas, bathrooms, or any other private spaces.

Aerial Academy reserves the right to restrict or prohibit photography, video recording at any time where it is necessary to protect participant privacy, safety, intellectual property, or the smooth operation of classes.

Social Media Use

Students are strongly encouraged to celebrate their achievements and share their aerial journey on social media but we encourage everyone in our community to use social media thoughtfully and respectfully. While your personal accounts are your own, content shared online should not bring the studio, its members, staff, or instructors into disrepute or conflict with our values. This includes posts, comments, messages, images, or videos that are abusive, discriminatory, defamatory, harassing, or otherwise inconsistent with the inclusive, supportive, and professional culture we strive to create.

When posting photographs, videos, or comments relating to the studio, members posts should:

• Adequately respect the privacy and consent of other students.

• Represent the studio and fellow participants in a positive and respectful manner.

• Refrain from posting content that is offensive, discriminatory, harassing, or damaging to the reputation of Aerial Academy or to other students.

• Demonstrate safe training, rigging and aerial practices.

• Follow copyright and intellectual property requirements where applicable.
