Studio 4 - the Big studio / Studio4 theatre
Studio 4 is our biggest and most impressive studio. It is 22m x 15m and features 330 square metres of space, ceiling height of 10m at the highest point and boasts an impressive 22 rigging points including one automatic winch point. It also has a massive 3m by 6m window in our entrance space so parents and visitors can witness the incredible tricks (and impressive heights) our students get up, to from the comfort of the waiting room seating. We have another window inside the studio that gives natural light and retractable sliding doors that open out into the adjacent Studio 3, giving us the ability to join the two studios into one large space, for perfect for kid’s holiday programmes or when hosting large scale large events.
Studio 4 is also able to convert into a fully operational theatre. Our stunning Studio4 Theatre has been fitted with professional stage lighting, fold out tiered seating catering for up to 270 people and choice of either a black curtain or a large 12×8m LED screen as a stage backdrop.

studio 3 - the medium studio
Our medium sized studio is affectionately known as “our mirror room”! It has a large window to the outside, giving lots of natural light and is 18m x 15m. This studio not only has mirror running the full length of the room, but mirrors also reaching 7.5 metres high in some places - so our Silks students will be able see themselves up in the air for the very first time! The long mirrors in here also make this studio to use for any kind of group dance activities.
This studio has 16 rig points, one floor mounted pole station and has large retractable sliding doors that allow it to connect to Studio 4 to make one large space if need be.

studio 2 - the mood room
The Mood Room is named so for its complete lack of windows. Unlike our other studios, there is no natural light in here - instead we have a installed a carefully designed lighting system to provide the moody, creative lighting of your dreams! This beautiful room is 20m x 11m and houses 15 rigging points, one floor mounted pole station and a mirror running the full length of the room that can be completely covered by a sheer curtain.
The ceiling is a little lower in here raising from 5m to 7.5m at the highest point, so it is our more cosy feeling room, great for Aerial Yoga, meditation, stretch, stage lighting rehearsals and creative practices of all kinds.

studio 1 - the Training Lounge
Studio 1 is our gift to our wonderful instructors, a dedicated space where they can train for themselves, practice content for teaching and hang out together.
No student classes are run in this space as it is a private space built to always be available at all hours for private aerial training, class planning, rehab and rest space.

sauna & icebath
Compliment your practice with some hot-cold therapy! The Recovery Room is a beautiful Sauna and Icebath room that is available for our members to book. Prices are per person, per hour and time slots can accommodate for up to 6 people at once.
There is comprehensive research that shows regular sauna and icebath sessions can help relax tight muscles, boost circulation, reduce stress and support better sleep. Many people also find it helps with recovery after exercise, clearer skin, and even overall mood. Whether it’s for wellness or winding down, it’s one of the best things you can do for your body and mind.

We’re fortunate to have Forge Physio located upstairs on site at the Aerial Academy. If you’re nursing an injury or need help getting your body back on track, Cam and his friendly team are there to help.
Forge Physio have three treatment rooms available. They take a supportive and personalised approach to rehabilitation and performance, using a range of physiotherapy techniques to help you recover, rebuild strength, and move with confidence again. Whether you’re working through an injury or simply wanting to improve how your body moves, their team can help you get back to your aerial, dance, or pilates practice as safely and efficiently as possible.
24/7 reformer pilates
Looking to build more strength and flexibility? Needing to gently rehab an injury? Or wanting compliment your aerial practice with another form of exercise? We have Flow Studio, a 24/7 reformer pilates space, on-site within our Aerial Academy building.
This boutique pilates studio is completely DIY, so there are no formal classes or instructors and caters to all levels. Just book a slot at a time that suits you, turn up and pop on your headphones and select the workout of your choice. They offer a plethora of pre-loaded reformer workouts presented by qualified and highly experienced instructors.

theatre space
Studio4 Theatre is our on-site fully rigged theatre. Our largest studio space, Studio 4 is working classroom most of the week but can be completely transformed into a fully working theater for shows, concerts and conferences. Framed by black curtain backdrop and able to seat 270 people on fold-out tiered seating, our theater of course comes completely pre-rigged with up to 11 on-stage rigging points and and one central automated winch point.
Additionally, as a backdrop to our stage we have a impressive 12×8m LED screen - the only one of its kind in Christchurch, able to project any image or video you’d like as a backdrop to compliment your production or show. It can also be used for projection of content for workshops and conferences of all types. Available for hire for your next event!

We are proud to offer a state-of-the-art, purpose-built aerial and circus training facility for both local and international professional artists and performers. Our entire space is completely brand new and designed both with natural light and creative inspiration in mind.
We offer three bookable rooms, our large performance space with rigging possibilities up to 10m high, a room featuring an expansive window that fills the studio with bright, beautiful light throughout the day and another completely windowless but fully fitted with stunning customizable mood lighting.
Aerial Academy endeavor to offer modern, clean and peaceful space where professionals can train and refine their craft at the highest level.

stretch & Flex room
We have a fully equipped Stretch and Flexibility room. Designed to support a wide range of supplementary and strength movement for our members including: mobility, physio and injury rehab, hand balancing, contortion training, Calisthenics and all sorts of body conditioning practices. This room will be stocked with equipment such as Pylo boxes, stretch bands, mats and blocks, paralettes, squat rack, weights bench and wall gyms, pull up bars as well as ample wall space for all your handstand and stretch needs.
Whether you're specifically doing Calisthenics based work, needing to give your body extra support with stretching, requiring private flexibility coaching in a quiet environment, or needing physio rehabilitation, this space will provide the versatile and peaceful space for your practice.

carparking
We’re proud to provide on-site parking at Aerial Academy, making arrivals and departures easy and convenient for both students and parents. Our grounds include 34 dedicated car parks, allowing most visitors to park directly on site. Additional street parking is also commonly available in the surrounding area, particularly in the evenings when many of our classes run. We will also plenty of bike stands available too.
wood sprung dance floors
All of our studios are fitted with specially designed wooden sprung floors. These floors are engineered to absorb impact and support dynamic movement, helping to reduce strain on joints. The sprung construction creates an ideal training surface for dance, circus, and aerial practice, allowing students and performers to move with confidence, safety, and control.
mirrors & wall gyms
We have equipped both Studio 3 and our The Training Lounge room with wall gyms (with detachable pull-up bars) to allow our students ability to further their strength and flexibility training. Additionally all our studios have mirrors, the most extensive mirrors being in Studio 3 (7.5 metres high) and the Studio 2 (15 metres long).
heating & cooling
Each studio is equipped with air conditioning so we can maintain a consistent, comfortable temperature no matter the season. With the ability to keep our spaces warm in winter and cool during the hotter months we can ensure our students a comfortable training environment year-round.
parent/student wELCOME & WAIT area
Our waiting area has been carefully designed to ensure it is a welcoming space for both students and parents. Featuring plenty of seating including comfortable couches and armchairs, a tea and coffee station, and a large window into our biggest studio - so families and students can enjoy watching our students doing cool things while they wait.

Between the four studios we have on offer, Aerial Academy holds more than 60 individual rigging points! More than any studio anywhere in New Zealand! We have worked closely with a team of meticulous engineers, pedantic builders, and highly experienced riggers to ensure every element of our rigging is perfect - designed, created and installed to the highest possible spec and with your absolute safety in mind.

We have so many more amazing features to our incredible purpose built building, including a chilled filtered water bottle refill station, two bathroom spaces with 8 toilets and 4 showers. We also have detachable in-ground floor mounted poles in all three classrooms for those students wishing to cross-train pole work with their aerial practice.
